OLIVER, Pete Sherman, 80, of Wheeling, WV, 
passed away Monday, May 10, 2010, at Heartland 
Lansing Nursing Home.

He was born December 22, 1929, in Wheeling, WV, 
son of the late Pete S. and Katherine Sherman 
Oliver.

Mr. Oliver was a retired Bricklayer having 
worked out of Bricklayer Local #1 of Wheeling 
for over 50 years, and was a member of the Ruble 
United Methodist Church..  He was a former 
Golden Glove Boxer, and had the Pete Oliver and 
WV Mountain Boys Band.    Pete had recorded 
records in Nashville, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in 
death by his wife, Peggy JoAnn Green Oliver in 
1992; a son, Ronald Oliver in 1989; two 
grandsons, Seth and Zachary; two brothers; and a 
sister.

Surviving are a son, David S. Oliver and his 
wife, Lisa of Triadelphia; two daughters, Diane 
Jordan and her husband, Jim of Wheeling, and 
Suzanne McCamic and her husband, Jeff of St. 
Clairsville; six grandchildren, Justin, Troy, 
Jamie, Alesha, Luke and Jacob; three great-
grandchildren, Hunter, Matthew, and Emilia and 
one on the way.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. 
on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the Kepner 
Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, 
Wheeling, where services will be held at 11 a.m. 
on Thursday, May 13, 2010, with the Reverend 
Judy Flynn officiating.   Interment in Greenwood 
Cemetery, Wheeling.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ruble 
United Methodist Church, 37 Ruby Avenue, 
Wheeling, WV 26003.
