JOHNSON, John Dean, Sr., 79, of Valley Grove, 
WV, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010, at his 
home.

He was born in Glen Easton, WV, April 13, 1931, 
son of the late Alva and Minnie Amos Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was a retired crane operator with 
Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Martins Ferry, 
Ohio Plant, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.  He was 
a member of the V.F.W. Post #1 of Wheeling, and 
he was a Christian.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in 
death by four brothers, William, Robert, Daniel, 
and Harvey; and three sisters, Elizabeth, 
Kathern, and Lena.

Surviving are four children, John D. Johnson, 
Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK, Robert L. Johnson and 
his wife Rebecca of Charlotte, NC, Dennis E. 
Johnson and his wife, Erica of Morgantown, WV; 
and Elena D. Johnson-Duncan and her husband, 
Vincent L. of Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren, 
Jeremiah, Zachariah, Logan, Levi, Alexa, and 
Aubree Johnson; a sister, Mary Johnson of 
Wheeling; and a close friend, Johnita Walker.

Friends will be received at the Kepner Funeral 
Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling, on 
Thursday, May 27, 2010, from 1 p.m. until time 
of memorial services at 6 p.m. with the Reverend 
Mark A. Zelewicz, Sr. officiating.   Interment 
will be held at the convenience of the family.

Military services will be conducted by the 
Moundsville Veteran Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to Valley 
Hospice, Inc., 308 Mt. St. Joseph Road, 
Wheeling, WV 26003.
