He was born on October 10, 1924, in Short Creek, WVa, the son of the late Mary Angelina and Lawrence Zumpetta. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was retired from Conalco, Hannibal, Ohio, where he worked as a machinist. He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) New Martinsville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, two brothers, Anthony and Joseph.
Surviving are a sister, Viola, of Windsor Heights, a son, John Lawrence and his wife, Karen, of Wellsburg, W.Va., two daughters, Maria Christina Parr and her husband, John, of Wheeling, Martha Jane Schreiber and her husband, Peter, of Virginia Beach, four grandchildren, Brittany Zumpetta Gusic and husband, Scott of Martinsburg, John Allen Zumpetta of Wellsburg, Justin Parr and wife, Lori, Brent Parr and wife, Lisa, three great grandchildren, Slaton, Grayson, Tristan, all of St. Albans, and several loving nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11a.m. at the First Christian Church, Maple and Locust Avenue, New Martinsville.

I am sad to hear of your father's passing. It's difficult to lose our parents, the people we love. John was a sweet and gracious man, and I was fortunate enough to meet him.
