Norman, Robert E. "Dyke", 89, of Wheeling died on Saturday, November 10, 2012 in the Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling.

He was born October 17, 1923 in Wheeling son of the late George W and Edna Rae Stiles Norman.

Dyke was a retired General Foreman of the Benwood Plant for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. He was a college graduate of Washington and Lee College in Lexington, VA and a member of Stone Presbyterian Church in Wheeling where he was an Elder and sang in the Adult Choir. He also was a member of Bates Lodge A.F.&A.M.; a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason; a member of the NFL Players Association; played pro football for the Baltimore Colts and was a member of the Polar Bear Golf Club at Wheeling Park golf course.

He was a past football coach at Union High School in McMechen and a past head football coach at Martins Ferry High School in Martins Ferry, OH. He also used to play with the Pride of the Valley Barbershop Chorus and was a past member of the York Rite and Osiris Temple.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, George "Lefty" Norman and Raymond "Pinky" Norman.

Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, JoAnn Treweek Norman; his three children, Dr. Robert E. Norman, Jr and his wife, Icena of Akron, OH, James S. Norman and his wife, Sondra "Sam" of Wheeling and Lynda J. Hill and her husband, Kenneth of Pickerington, OH; a grandson, Joshua S. Norman of Wheeling; three granddaughters, Lauren M. Hill of Westerville, OH, Kristen M. Hill of New Albany, OH and Patti Nestor of Akron, OH; a great granddaughter, Hanna Nestor of Akron, OH and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 3-7 P M at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St, Wheeling (304 242 2311). Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stone Presbyterian Church, 25 East Cove Ave., Wheeling, WV 26003 or the charity of the donors choice.

Aunt Jo, Bob, Jim, and Linda, I was shocked to hear of Uncle Dykes passing. I am so very sorry. My prayers will be with you all and hang on to all of the wonderful memories you have made over the years. That is what helped ease the pain when mom left. Thinking of you all.
