Kepner: A Name Trusted for Over 155 years
Your pictures, your treasures, never leave our hands in our Wheeling location. You may deliver your photographs directly to us at our in-house studio in downtown Wheeling or to any one of our five Kepner Funeral Homes. We also would be glad to have one of our staff come to you and pick up the pictures. Out-of-town family members can include additional pictures, perhaps pictures you would not have seen otherwise, by sending the pictures via registered mail or e-mail.

Personalization
The possibilities are endless! Along with your treasured photographs that you provide, we can include a picture of your loved one's most meaningful mementos, for example: favorite sporting equipment, plaques or trophies. Let our highly skilled and caring personnel choose the most appropriate selection from our extensive music library.

Pre-Planning
For those wishing to pre arrange their funeral service or who have already done so, you may begin the process now by gathering your very own favorite life memories and include them as part of your service. Add a personalized message for your family to cherish and make your Memories of a Lifetime even more special!

Let us help you make any great day or special event live on for many years. Our photo imaging services are available for any event you can imagine.

Archive
Although no one can tell exactly how long images will last, one thing is certain: proper storage and handling are critical to a picture's longevity. Factors such as light, humidity, temperature and smoke all affect the life expectancy of images.

DVD image storage is believed to last well over 200 years. Color prints using today's dyes and papers have the ability to show no sign of noticeable color shift for up to 150 years. Black and White prints and negatives are still considered to be the best prints for archival purposes as they actually contain stable heavy metal.   VHS tape stock, however, is very unstable and will begin to show signs of deterioration within 10-20 years. And there remain very different opinions on the life expectancy of printer inks

It is important for us to note and disclaim, that we do not attempt to offer any exclusive or proprietary archiving methods for your photography. We will attempt to take every step necessary to provide the best, most cost-effective materials on the market today for proper storage, but our service is designed to help you organize and share your photos.

We strongly recommend light and air tight containers and proper environmental conditions for proper long term storage of your most cherished Memories of a Lifetime. More information on the topic of archival photo storage is readily available on the world wide web.

And keep in mind the most important thing of all: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. These are your memories.

Use this time to start the remembering process. May we suggest assigning this project to one family member to coordinate all efforts.

Start by gathering your favorite photos. Be sure to look in all the obvious and the not so obvious spots:

  • Take pictures off your walls and over the mantel piece: any size is welcome. There is NO NEED to take pictures out of their frames. Bring them to us "as is."
  • Review your photo albums: choose the best one or two from each special event.
  • Be sure to look on your loved one's desk and in their wallet or purses. Look in drawers and boxes where pictures are stored.
  • ...and be sure not to overlook pictures on the fridge!
  • Be selective and pick the one or two best photographs that capture the best memory of the occasion.
  • Editing now will result in a more emotionally meaningful, more cost effective collection.

Digital Photos should be saved in the .jpeg format, or else uncompressed and sized at 1280x960 pixels.
