The idea behind pre-planning is simply that one day a great deal of vital information about you will be needed by your family and anyone whose responsibility is to assist them. There is no doubt that those who plan ahead are more comfortable knowing not only that their personal wishes will be followed, but also that unnecessary difficulties can be avoided. Peace of Mind You and your family can benefit when funeral arrangements are made well in advance of their need. By addressing plans in advance, you can take all the time necessary to make the most satisfactory decisions regarding the type of ceremony and burial procedures preferred. A carefully planned funeral service can also be the most comforting to your family. It can spare them from facing decisions that can be so difficult at the time of death. Also, it can give your family the peace of mind in knowing that they have acted in accordance with your wishes. Prepayment Some of the most common questions that we are asked regarding prearranged funeral plans pertain to prepayment. You should know that 100% of the funds given to us to prepay funeral plans are placed in an individual trust account. The funds are not available to the funeral home until services are actually provided at death. We offer full and partial payment plans. Those choosing full payment plans receive a guarantee that our services and merchandise charges as selected at the time of payment, will never require more payment, no matter how long the beneficiary might live. Interest that accrues on the trust funds remain in the account to keep pace with the inflationary increases in our charges. Persons receiving or applying for SSI or Medicaid benefits are currently allowed to exclude prepaid mortuary trust funds as assets under current eligibility rules. We encourage you to discuss your thoughts and decisions with your family. Prearranging Makes Sense
