Lost Wax Method Urns
If your choice is cremation, you will need an urn for the cremated remains after the cremation process. The urn you select will depend on the style, color, cost, workmanship and the personality of the person who has died. Aurora offers several collections of urns from which to choose.

Our lost wax pieces come from foundries that specialize in producing lost wax art castings. The sculptured bronze urns of our Canneto Collection are made using the lost wax method.

The lost wax method is a 12-step process which results in a beautiful piece of art.

• The artist creates the original sculpture from clay or plastiline.
• A rubber mold is made from the original artwork.
• A transitional wax sculpture is made from the rubber mold.
• The wax cast is removed from the rubber mold and retouched.
• The wax model is equipped with rods, gates, and vents to allow the passage of bronze into the mold.
• The wax model is then coated with a liquid ceramic.
• The entire piece is placed in an autoclave. The wax melts out of the shell (thus the term "lost wax"). This shell is the final mold into which the bronze will be poured.
• Molten bronze is poured into the form.
• After cooling, the ceramic shell is broken away from the bronze sculpture.
• The sculpture is sandblasted to remove any remaining ceramic.
• Gates and sprues are cut off. All areas are blended together to make the casting look like the original artwork.
• The bronze is treated with chemicals and heat to give it color. The artwork receives a final coating of wax, which becomes a permanent part of the sculpture.

Spun Sheet Bronze Cremation Urns
Spinning is a cost-effective way to make a round urn/urn component out of a piece of flat sheet bronze.
There is no heat involved; the shape is achieved by friction.
Spinning Method of Cremation Urn Manufacturing
Spinning is a method of manufacturing used to make a round shape starting with flat sheet material either in bronze or stainless steel.

The flat material, while spinning on a lathe, is forced over a mandrel that is the shape of the final product. This is done at very high pressures of between 3,000 and 6,000 pounds per square inch (PSI). Just like fabricated urns, these urns have a satin finish and are easily personalized.
